What is SAS-Bee ?

Parents of spellers from each regional will stand a chance to apply for this on behalf of their child in order to be a part of the SASB finals. It is a wildcard entry for spellers giving them an opportunity to experience the finals and giving them a shot at winning the championship title.

Who can apply for SAS-Bee ?

Any speller that is already registered and attends the 2024 Virtual South Asian Spelling Bee season is eligible to apply for SAS-Bee consideration.

Where can you apply for SAS-Bee ?

The SAS-Bee application has ended for this year.

How does SAS-Bee work ?

  • For the 2024 virtual season, we will accept up to 100 SAS-Bee applications on a first come first serve basis.

  • In total 20 applications will be shortlisted based on a selection criteria.

  • Out of 20, the first 12 will be allocated a seat at the finals based on a first come first serve basis.

  • If we get less than 12 entries then, everyone will automatically qualify to be a part of the finals.

How much does it cost and how do I pay ?

  • Initial application fee – $75

  • The first 12 spellers out of 20 that confirm their seats at finals – $250

  • All payments can be made online on our website

  • Please note that all the application fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

What does my participation fee cover ?

The SAS-Bee fee covers a seat at the 2024 Virtual South Asian Spelling Bee National Finals.

When can I start applying for SAS-Bee ?

Applications for SAS-Bee will be open after the first regional is conducted.

When are the application deadlines for SAS-Bee ?

  • Applications for SAS-Bee will end on June 24, 2024

  • The final results of the top 20 spellers will be sent on June 25, 2024 which the first 12 to register and pay, reserve their seat for the finals on June 29, 2024.

  • The list of final 20 will be done via social media on Facebook live at a time pre-determined. The first 12 spellers based on internet timestamp, to pay the $250 fee will be accepted at the finals. The remainder will be refunded this fee.

Why should I apply for SAS-Bee ?

  • It is a wildcard entry for spellers giving them an opportunity to experience the finals and giving them a shot at winning the championship title.

  • SAS-Bee gives more spellers the opportunity to compete with their peers as it increases the number of available seats at finals.

  • This will make the competition challenging and exciting at the same time.

  • A minimum of 12 seats are allocated at the finals and this improves the quality and competitiveness of the South Asian Spelling Bee.

  • It provides a robust platform to sustain the dominance of our community over this craft and skill set.
